Now that the puppies are almost 10 days old, we have a lot of fast development to look forward to. The chart above shows how quickly the puppies have gained weight. This morning Puppy Number 6 made a major milestone. He hit twice his birth weight.
We’ve seen over the years that the relative size of the puppies at this early age is no indication of their relative size later in life. The smallest pup from our very first foster litter turned out to be one of the largest adults. You can see in the chart that Puppy #3 was lagging for a couple of days, but has since increased rapidly.
Over the next week or two the pups will undergo some very major changes. Their eyes will open, they’ll be able to walk (though the fall down a lot at the beginning), and their ears will open.
Keep an eye on them. They grow up fast!
