Ozzie, our latest foster dog, arrived last night. He’s a super friendly, 3-year old, 78 pound, purebred Yellow Labrador. Handsome, isn’t he? Ozzie was relinquished to CCHS as a result of a divorce. He gets along great with kids, cats, and other dogs
CCHS is trying to place Ozzie with a Labrador rescue group. He will be with us until those details are worked out. In the mean time he is available for adoption through CCHS. If you think you might be interested in adopting Ozzie and want to meet him, call the Shelter and ask to speak with Michelle. She will talk to you about Ozzie and arrange for you to come out to visit with him.
Ozzie is our foster dog number 1,048.

Why is he going to a rescue group instead of staying at the shelter? Wouldn't a dog/cat/family friendly yellow lab be a quick adoption at the shelter?
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question. There are many reasons why CCHS moves animals to rescue groups.
ReplyDeleteOne reason to move a dog to a rescue group is because of space. If there's no run available when an animal comes in, what do you do? One option that works toward the goal of adopting out as many animals as possible is to see if a rescue group will take a dog and let them place it. One less dog means there is a run available and the problem is solved.
Keep in mind we're just the foster family. We don't make those decisions and don't know the sitiuation at the shelter building. You'd have to contact CCHS to find out his specifics.
Ozzie IS available for adoption through CCHS even though he's not at the shelter right now.
