What About Those Joints?

091004T007An orthopedic surgeon had a look at Donald, Pluto, and Daisy this morning. Most of their joints are OK so far. Pluto looks fine, but Donald and Daisy’s hyperextended carpals could turn out to be a problem for them in the future. We’re going to try wrapping their front legs to give them support.

The idea is to prevent the ligaments and tendons from continuing to stretch while the puppies grow. If we’re lucky the hyperextension of the lower joints will improve over a six to eight week period. The challenge for us now is to find a way to keep the bandages on their legs. The pups are starting to feel better and are starting to get more active.

Are they eating okay? I have some left over food from my vet from when my dogs weren't eating. Hill's A/D. Would you guys be able to use it for these guys? It needs to be diluted, but it's really stinky and works just like the Nutrical.

  4. Flrwrgirl: That is very kind of you. So far the only thing we can Donald to eat is A/D. We're almost out and would be very grateful for your leftovers. Can you put it in a bag, write "Tom and Harriett's Pups" on it and take it to the Shelter? They will get it to us right away.

    Thank you very much!
