A New Litter Arrives

There was a message on the answering machine when we got home from shopping this afternoon. It was from Karen, the foster coordinator at the Champaign County Humane Society (CCHS) asking if we could take a litter of 7 4-to-5 week old pups. She was scrambling to find a place for them to go before the Shelter closed.
When Harriett called back she found out that the pups had just come into the Shelter. They were relinquished without their mom, but were old enough to eat on their own. Harriett got back into the car and went over to get them.
The pups are quite a mix, so we’re not quite sure what breed they are. Based on the number of teeth they have, they’re probably closer to 5 weeks old. They’re all in very good shape…clean, soft hair, good weight, and friendly.
