Michelle from CCHS called Harriett yesterday and asked her if we would be willing to take Geo for a little while. Geo is a very shy Pit Bull mix, 2 years 8 months old. The story we got was that her owner was no longer able to care for her.
Geo’s problem is that she is incredibly timid and does not show well with the commotion at the Shelter. Our job is to see if, and how fast, she can settle into a home. So far she’s met the base pack without any problems. She’s not really fond of Austin’s crazy barking when it’s time to go outside or Sidney’s persistence in pushing toys in her face, but her method of coping is to turn away and withdraw.
Her behavior towards us has been the same. Despite her timidity, she shows no signs of defensive aggression. No warning body language. No raised lips. No growling. Geo just withdraws when she gets scared, but she’ll come right back in response to soothing words. That’s a really good sign and gives us something to work with. She’s already starting to approach us on her own. I think she’ll be fine if we give her some time to settle down and don’t push her too fast.

I love her. I'll take her. When can I come get her. Please. She is so beeeeeautiful!! :-)
ReplyDeleteWill she be on cam at all, Tom?
p.s. Look at those adorable ears. She's a real darling girl.
What a beautiful pup. I'm sure she'll warm up rapidly in your loving home!!
ReplyDeleteMary...Unless Geo gets more comfortable having a camera pointed at her we won't be able to have her on PuppyCam. I would consider a special show to introduce her to everyone, but we won't make her stay in the puppy room to do a regular broadcast.
ReplyDeleteDana...See today's update. Way better than we had hoped!
