Geo Update

100123T005

Geo’s still looking for a home. Last night Kristen Collins, Geo’s foster mom, left a comment about Geo on this blog. Here’s what she said:

Yes, she is! I'm her foster mom, and I'd keep the lovely girl myself if my older female dog hadn't voted her off of the island. After 3 or 4 weeks in our home, Juno's still moping and hiding in the bedroom, unfortunately. Wink the border collie loves Geo, though, and the two play often. In fact, Geo seems downright uncomfortable without him... She seems anxious when not in the company of other dogs. She's come a long way, though. I've taken her to work with me, where she's had the opportunity to get cookies from all of my coworkers---and she's gone from fearful alarm barking to wagging at strangers who show up in our office area. She's also learned to sit, wait at doors, come when called and lie down. Clever girl!

Geo needs some time with new situations to get comfortable, but she warms up very quickly and gets along great with people and other dogs. As you can see by the comment above, she’s also very smart and learns quickly. She’d be great for someone who wants a well behaved, adult dog. And she’s pretty, too.

Geo is available from the Champaign County Humane Society. Call the shelter for more information.

Does the CCHS allow out of state adoptions? I hope someone adopts this sweet girl.

I would like to know her age, if she is good with children, and is she potty trained?

  3. Geo is 2 years, 8 months old. She is housebroken, but we don't have children. You should call CCHS and ask about Geo. They can answer all of your questions. Their phone number can be found on the website at http://www.cuhumane.org.

  4. Check out Geo's new want ad on craigslist! I just posted it, so it should be up as soon as it's approved. (Look for the one called "Pigbull Seeks Warm Lap.")

I'll send all potential adopters to CCHS and plan to show Geo at my home so that she's most comfortable. We're going to find the perfect place for this girl---and if we don't, nobody worry. She's not going anywhere until the right person or family shows up. :-) Until then, she's got a safe place with me, Juno and Wink (despite Juno's benign but disgruntled attitude). She'll keep learning stuff, meeting new people and getting spoiled rotten.

That's such a relief to hear that Geo will be well taken care of until she finds her forever home. I would adopt her in a heartbeat, but unfortunately I live on the other side of the country. Had to make due with using her picture as my desktop background. What a cutie pie!

    Tom & Harriett:

I put your pictures of Geo on the desktop computers in my department (student assistant workstation computers at a large university) and have received many comments on how cute she looks. Also, people think the photos are shot by professionals. Thought you'd like to know what great amateur photographers you are!
