A couple of days ago we picked up five 6-week old kittens. Rarely do we have kittens in foster care, but kittens are coming into the Shelter fast and there are no other foster homes available. To be put up for adoption kittens must be at least 8 weeks old and weigh at least two pounds. These guys (they’re all boys) weigh about 1.75 pounds so they’ll be here for three weeks or so to gain some weight. They’re healthy and very friendly.

Oh, I want foster kittens! But everyone I know who has had them, has had the shelter refuse to take them back, so they really are adoptions. So I am nervous. Yet I want foster kittens! These are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhat are you talking about? We've been fostering for over 20 years and I have NEVER heard of the Shelter refusing to take foster animals back. That's total nonsense and whoever told you that is completely wrong.
ReplyDeleteWe have tried contacting twice now to get back on the email list for fostering. We did 2 adult cats and 2 kittens last year. then we had a roomate for a while. I will call tomorrow and make sure we are on the list because we love doing this. I love your blog its what inspired me to foster in the first place! I will call tomorrow and see if there is something else we need to do. Cute Pictures!!
ReplyDeleteWhen you say shelter do you mean CCHS?? I have emailed twice in the last 5 weeks to get our names back on the foster list. We were off for a few months while we moved across town and had a roomate for the summer. I havent heard anything back so i just assumed the need was met. We loved having kittens through last thanksgiving! It was so much fun! Your blog really inspired us to get involved in foster care in the first place. I will gave them a call tomorrow and see what we can do.

ReplyDeleteThe volunteer coordinator recently went on maternity leave, and I suspect that may be why email isn't being answered as quickly as it should be.
